Applicants for the B.A./B.S./M.P.A. dual degree need to complete their general education requirements, have a GPA of 3.2 or higher, and be entering their junior year. Qualified applicants take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and apply to the M.P.A. program during the first semester of their junior year and complete M.P.A. graduate application requirements, including a personal statement, GRE scores, and three letters of recommendation. The Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) notifies successful applicants of acceptance before the end of their junior year.
Once accepted into the 42-credit M.P.A. degree program, students take 12 credits of graduate M.P.A. courses during their senior undergraduate year. Graduate courses available to accepted undergraduates include:

These graduate courses may be taken during the summer following the junior year and during the senior year. M.P.A. courses taken as an undergraduate are charged at the undergraduate tuition rate and are double-counted for undergraduate and graduate credits. After receiving their undergraduate degree, students continue in the M.P.A. degree, taking M.P.A. courses until they complete the additional credits of required and specialized courses to complete the 42-credit degree. Post B.A./B.S. degree credits
carry the graduate tuition rate.
