Submission of the Thesis

Submission of the form entitled, "Application to Candidacy for the Master's Degree." The most recent version of this fillable form should be downloaded from https://www.gsn.newark.rutgers.edu/masters.

1. If the student's graduate program requires a thesis, then the thesis must be uploaded on or before the following dates at https://etd.libraries.rutgers.edu/submit-your-etd:

    For October degree - September 1 deadline.
    For January degree - December 1 deadline.
    For May degree - April 1 deadline.

2. All other requirements are also due on the dates shown above (Item #1).

3. Signed Application to Candidacy, as follows:

Part A - to be signed by program director.

Part B - please see below:

Section A: if the student is writing a thesis, the adviser and committee members sign this part.

Section B: if the student is not completing a thesis or has written a satisfactory essay, then the faculty evaluator signs this part.

Section C: if the program requires passage of a comprehensive exam, then the exam committee chair or program director and members sign this part.

Section D: if the program does not require a comprehensive exam, the program director signs this part.

The Title Page with committee signatures must be forwarded to the Office of the Dean within 48 hours of completing the thesis defense. The date on the title page must be the degree date, specifically, October + the year, January + the year, or May + the year.
