Graduate School–Newark 2010–2012 Admission Nondegree Graduate Student Program

Nondegree Graduate Student Program

Nondegree graduate study is available at the discretion of each of the graduate programs. Enrollment is on a part-time, nonmatriculated basis. For information on which programs offer nondegree study, contact the admissions office.

To apply for nondegree admission, submit the application found at http://gradstudy.rutgers.edu. Students registered for nondegree study at the Graduate School–Newark are allowed to take up to 6 credits under the nondegree program.* Once this nondegree credit limit is reached, students are encouraged to apply to the regular, degree seeking program. Students who successfully complete courses under the nondegree program may receive as many as 6 graduate degree credits. To exercise this option, students must seek the credit within five years of taking the courses. In addition, they must apply and gain admission to a graduate degree program appropriate to the courses completed. Students must maintain a B average or better in their coursework.

*Registration for nondegree coursework beyond 6 credits will be at the discretion of the academic department and the Office of the Dean of the Graduate-School Newark. These students are required to submit undergraduate transcripts with their application. Unofficial copies are acceptable. (Add transcript requirement to nondegree application.)
