Academic Credit

There is an expectation that once students begin their matriculation at the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences, they will complete the bulk of their work within academic departments at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. There are, however, several other ways that students may earn credit toward the degree requirements. Students may be awarded credits through Advanced Placement examinations, International Baccalaureate, and (in select cases) proficiency examinations. Credit may also be earned in transfer. Credits earned through these methods are not computed in the cumulative grade-point average. Academic departments determine if such courses and/or credits are applicable to the major, minor, or the SAS Core Curriculum.
