Four-year undergraduate curricula leading to the degree of bachelor
of science are offered in the fields of aerospace engineering, environmental engineering (joint degree with SEBS), biomedical engineering, chemical
engineering, civil engineering, electrical and computer engineering,
industrial engineering, materials science and engineering, and
mechanical engineering. These curricula are accredited by the
Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
In addition, a flexible four-year curriculum in applied sciences in
engineering is administered by an interdepartmental committee. The field
of applied sciences in engineering is not a professional
engineering curriculum and is not subject to ABET accreditation.
Numerous areas of concentration are available within these
disciplines, such as biochemical engineering, financial engineering,
communications, computer engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, energy systems,
and packaging engineering. Five-year,
dual-degree programs are offered by the School of Engineering in
cooperation with the School of Arts and Sciences. This program leads to a
bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in any of the engineering fields
listed above, and a bachelor of arts (B.A.) or a B.S. degree from the
School of Arts and Sciences in any of its majors.
Finally, the School of Engineering welcomes transfer students to our community of
learning and engagement. If you've attended a college or university
after graduating from high school, you are considered as a transfer
student. Each year, the school admits transfer students from other
schools within Rutgers as well as colleges/universities in the United States and
around the world. Please keep in mind that the School of Engineering is
a full-time day program. You are expected to be a full-time student.
Only if there are extenuating circumstances may our students request to
be part-time students.
