The curriculum for each undergraduate degree program at Mason Gross is designed to be completed in 8 semesters. In special circumstances, students may request additional semesters up to a maximum of 11 semesters of full-time enrollment to complete their degree requirements, provided they remain in good academic and artistic standing. Students may be placed on academic probation at any time that their expected graduation date exceeds 11 semesters.
For financial aid purposes, the maximum timeframe to complete a bachelor's degree set by the federal government is 150% of the program's published length measured in credit hours. Therefore, an undergraduate degree requiring 120 credits will have a maximum timeframe of 180 credit hours (120 x 150%). To maintain eligibility for federal aid (including loans), students must be able to complete all degree requirements before exceeding the maximum timeframe. Students enrolled in minors and/or a second major are not provided a longer maximum timeframe. Students should consider the impact on their aid when declaring additional majors and minors if they will require extra time to complete their degree.
