The five-year, dual-degree program in bioenvironmental engineering
is offered by the School of Engineering in cooperation with the School
of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS). This program allows a
greater depth of specialization at the undergraduate level than can be
achieved by completing the four-year program.
Students in the five-year program apply to SEBS, under whose
jurisdiction they remain for the first two years. Assuming satisfactory
progress, the students come under the academic jurisdiction of the
School of Engineering for the remaining three years of the program.
However, the students continue to affiliate with SEBS and must select
humanities/social sciences electives to satisfy SEBS core requirements.
Four-year bioenvironmental engineering majors may apply to SEBS for
transfer to the dual-degree, five-year program at any time prior to
their fourth year.
First-year students matriculating fall 2015 and after and transfer
students matriculating fall 2016 and after can find the SEBS core
requirements in the SEBS Core Curriculum chapter.
Continuing students matriculating prior to fall 2015 and transfer
students matriculating prior to fall 2016 must complete the SEBS core
requirements Areas I through VII plus the major requirements Area VIII A
and B. The SEBS core for continuing students matriculating prior to
fall 2015 and transfer students matriculating prior to fall 2016
fulfills the School of Engineering humanities and social science
requirements. The year-by-year program for continuing students
matriculating prior to fall 2015 and transfer students matriculating
prior to fall 2016 is listed below. The most recent curricular updates are posted on the SEBS bioenvironmental engineering program website.
