Human Resource Management
Human resource management is a critical function in work organizations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), the field for human resource managers is projected to grow 9 percent over the next decade, making this occupation an attractive source of future employment opportunities. While many of the tasks associated with human resource management (HRM) are centered in the human resources (HR) department, all managers have HR responsibilities.
The human resource management undergraduate courses offered through the School of Management and Labor Relations cover a broad range of topics associated with HRM from the perspective of the HR professional, the manager, and the employee. Our programs prepare students who are interested in a career in human resource management--or hope to become managers or team leaders during their careers--with some of the issues they will have to deal with, such as staffing, motivating, and developing team members.
