Transfer Credit from Institutions Other Than Rutgers

The School of Engineering does not accept bulk transfer credits. The transfer evaluation is done course-by-course. Students must submit a detailed course description or syllabus for transfer credit evaluation. In general, credits are granted for courses taken at accredited colleges and universities if they are the equivalent of courses offered by Rutgers University and a grade of at least a C has been earned.

Students currently enrolled at the School of Engineering who wish to receive transfer credits from another institution must obtain prior approval from the School of Engineering Office of Academic Services. Transfer credits and grades from institutions other than Rutgers are not included in the student's cumulative grade-point average. This policy applies both to transfer credits granted at the time of admission and to any summer or special work taken at other institutions while the student is a candidate for a bachelor's degree at Rutgers. An official transcript of all work at other institutions of higher learning is required whether or not transfer credit is claimed.

Students should refer to NJ Transfer for course equivalencies between a New Jersey community college and Rutgers School of Engineering. In order to get the most transfer credits when coming from a New Jersey community college, students should follow an engineering science curriculum (not a technology curriculum). Engineering science programs tend to follow a similar curriculum to our program in calculus, calculus-based physics, chemistry, and other science and general engineering courses.
