Scholarships

Students are selected for these awards by the Mason Gross School of the Arts Scholarship Committee. Inquiries should be addressed to the Office of the Dean.

Jozefa Kwapinska Anshutz Endowed Music Scholarship.  Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in music; based on academic merit and financial need.

William G. Becker Scholarship.  Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in any string instrument demonstrating high musical and academic promise with financial need.

John I. Bettenbender Theater Arts MFA Award.  Awarded to full-time M.F.A. students enrolled in design, stage management, costume technology, directing, or playwriting; established in line with the university's mission for diversity. Based on academic merit and financial need.

The Barbara and James Betts Scholarship in the Visual Arts.  Awarded to undergraduate or graduate visual arts student(s) based on financial need and artistic excellence.

Colonel Robert B. and Charlotte M. Craig Glass Armonica Fellowship.  Awarded to full-time students pursuing a terminal degree in music with an interest in learning to play the glass armonica; based on academic and artistic merit.

Lyda J. Craig Endowed Fund.  Awarded to a student studying visual arts at Mason Gross School of the Arts, with a preference given to a student with a concentration in painting, sculpture, or ceramics.

Mary Elizabeth Davison Music Scholarship.  Awarded to a worthy music student with financial need for the study of voice or an instrument. 

Malcolm Dodds Music Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students. Preference to an African-American student enrolled in music. Based on academic merit.

Florence Schnepf Domeshek Memorial Merit Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate dance majors based on artistic and academic merit.

Charlotte Durham Frazier Scholarship.  Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student studying organ (preferably), otherwise any keyboard instrument or choral conducting with financial need.

Leila Durham Gladwell Memorial Scholarship.  Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student studying organ (preferably), otherwise any keyboard instrument or choral conducting.

William Esper Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time students enrolled in the acting program at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Leon Golub Scholarship.  Awarded to first- or second-year graduate students enrolled in the visual arts program at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Gregory Hines Dance Power Endowed Scholarship.  1) Awarded to students in dance or theater arts; based on artistic merit. 2) Full-time undergraduate minority student enrolled in dance or theater based on merit.

Hanya Holm Scholarship Fund.  Recognizes outstanding work by a B.F.A. junior or senior in dance. This award will be given to help defray tuition expenses.

Sylvia S. Kapp Memorial Scholarship.  Awarded to music majors from Middlesex County, NJ, with preference to residents of East Brunswick; based on academic excellence.

Henry W. and Helen S. Kaufmann Music Scholarship.  Awarded to graduate students for the study of music at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Kelly Kriedeman Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to graduate students, preferably female, in the fall of their final year of the acting program.

Philip and Janice Levin Mason Gross Scholarship.  Awarded to students majoring in drama and the theater arts program associated with the the Levin Theater.

Eugene H. and Lois A. Lockfield Scholarship.  Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students studying jazz based on academics and financial need.

Marching Band Scholarship.  Awarded to students participating in the marching band.

Stephanie Morris Marryott Scholarship.  Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students based upon faculty evaluation or relevant application materials such as an audition in the case of performance, jazz, or music education students; based upon financial need.

Edna S. Mason Scholarship.  Awarded to talented and worthy students pursuing a professional degree in music, with preference given to those pursuing a career in piano.

Victoria J. Mastrobuono Memorial Opera Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students interested in opera performance and/or opera production at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Victoria J. Mastrobuono Memorial Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Victoria J. Mastrobuono Memorial Theater Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in theater at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Patricia Mayer Scholarship.  Awarded to incoming first-year students who demonstrate outstanding talent as dancers to help defray tuition expenses.

Monmouth Arts Foundation Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to students from Monmouth County, New Jersey, on a rotating basis in classical piano, visual or performing arts, or jazz or jazz composition.

Robert E. Mortensen Endowed Fellowship Fund.  Financial aid for a graduate student in choral conducting or undergraduate students in the Mason Gross School of the Arts registered in both the Glee Club or Kirkpatrick Choir (or other mixed ensemble).

Catherine Mortola Saldarini Memorial Scholarship.  Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students studying classical piano; based upon academic merit and artistic ability.

NOE Memorial Scholarship.  Provides financial assistance to students majoring in music.

Frank P. and Lilly A. Novak Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time students in visual arts, with a preference given to students studying painting, sculpture, or ceramics.

Presser Foundation Scholarship.  Awarded to an outstanding music major at the end of his or her junior year.

Edward W. Price Scholarship.  Awarded to a Rutgers University Marching Band member.

Louis T. Rege and Lou Costello Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Theater Arts at Mason Gross School of the Arts; preference given to students who reside in the state of New Jersey.

Pee Wee Russell Scholarship.  Awarded to students with financial need and demonstrated musical proficiency in jazz.

Rutgers Class of 1953 Endowed Scholarship.  Awarded to full-time undergraduate students in any of the four departments of Mason Gross School of the Arts based on academic merit and artistic talent.

Rutgers Class of '79 Merit Scholarship.  Awarded to an undergraduate who was in the top 10% of his or her secondary school and maintains at least a B (3.0) cumulative average during matriculation at the university.

W. Robert and Leona Schare Music Scholarship.  Awarded to a full-time student with a preference to those who demonstrate excellence in performances; financial need is considered.

Jean V. Shaw Estate Organist Scholarship.  Awarded to a student studying organ. 

Jean V. Shaw Estate Pianist Scholarship.  Awarded to a student studying piano.

Fran and Ray Stark Film Prize.  Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate students pursuing filmmaking (film concept, teleplay, screenplay, or computer generated material).

Peter Stroud Scholarship.  Awarded to first- or second-year graduate students enrolled in the visual arts program at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Percy Such Cello Scholarship.  Awarded to a string player.

Paul Trilling Scholarship.  Awarded to minority music majors at Mason Gross School of the Arts. Preference will be give to student majoring in violin, viola, or cello; other instruments may be considered.

Margery Turner Endowed Scholarship Fund in Dance.  Awarded to a full-time undergraduate based on talent and potential in the field as determined by the program and financial need as demonstrated by the Office of Financial Aid.

University DanceWorks Scholarship.  Awarded to incoming first-year students who demonstrate outstanding talent as dancers to help defray tuition expenses.

Deborah B. Waksman Scholarship.  Awarded to a music student.

Allan E. Warner Scholarship.  Awarded to a music student.

Robert Watts Memorial Graduate Scholarship.  Awarded to students entering the M.F.A. program in visual arts who have an impact on the development of contemporary art and demonstrate financial need.
