Design 208
Beginning in fall
2015, incoming students at Mason Gross School of the Arts can pursue a bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree in design. Students opting for the B.F.A. in design will develop innovative and
meaningful ways of communicating ideas in a wide range of concrete and dynamic
media. They will acquire skills in form-making, systems thinking, typography,
interaction, and data visualization, while shaping content and form in real
world situations. The program encourages a critical engagement with
contemporary culture, while equipping students for a lifetime of practice as a
designer in digital and/or print design. Our aim is for alumni to help shape
the future direction of design.
Students wishing
to pursue the B.F.A. in design apply to the B.F.A. in visual arts and declare the design major during their sophomore year, after completing a common
cross-disciplinary foundation year.
More information about this new program will be available soon on the school's website.
