Visual Arts

The visual arts studio facilities are located in the Civic Square Building in downtown New Brunswick and in the Livingston Art Building on the Livingston Campus in Piscataway. Classes are offered in large drawing and painting studios, as well as studios and critique spaces dedicated to design, photography, printmaking, and video. The department has six computer labs equipped with workstations, scanners, and printers tailored to the specific requirements of design, photography, digital video, and print. In addition, the photography area has color and black-and-white darkrooms, and the video area houses sound and video recording and editing facilities. The Livingston Art Building houses workshops for wood, metal, and ceramics as well as gallery and sculpture studio spaces. The Civic Square Building and the Livingston Art Building studio locations have separate studios for graduate and undergraduate students. The Civic Square Building also contains seminar rooms and a lecture hall.

Each semester, the extensive Mason Gross Galleries in the Civic Square Building present exhibitions by students, faculty, and distinguished outside artists.
