Admission and Requirements

Students in this degree program must be admitted to the School of Management and Labor Relations, as well as to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences. There is no deadline for admission, but students should apply as soon as possible.

After applying to the program and being accepted, students may enroll in the bachelor of arts degree program in labor studies and employment relations.

In order to major in this multidisciplinary course of study, students must take 36 credits of labor studies and employment relations courses as part of the total 120 credits required to graduate from Rutgers.

The minor in this program consists of 18 credits in labor studies and employment relations and must include either 37:575:100 or 101 Introduction to Labor Studies and Employment Relations.

Admission involves completing the application, writing a one-page application letter explaining why the applicant wishes to pursue a labor studies and employment relations major, having earned a 2.0 grade-point average or better in college work taken to date, and having demonstrated an adequate academic record in the introduction to labor studies course.
