To receive the Certificate in Cognitive Science, the student must
complete successfully the requirements for a Ph.D. in his or her
department and meet the following additional requirements:
1. Complete 16:185:500 Proseminar in Cognitive Science.
2. Carry out a research project under the direction of a
participating faculty member, normally outside the program in which the
student is registered. Project proposals must be approved by the
Cognitive Science Certificate Committee.
3. Take a
minimum of 9 additional credits from approved courses in biomedical
engineering, cognitive science, computer science, linguistics,
philosophy, and psychology. At least 9 credits must be taken from
outside the graduate program in which the student is registered.
Courses in other related fields may be submitted by petition.
