A student may enroll in a course without receiving academic credit if (1) space is available, (2) the instructor has approved the audit, and (3) the graduate program director or adviser has given advance approval. At registration, an N is placed in the credit prefix column on the course-request card. All course requirements except the final examination must be completed. The student is graded S or U (satisfactory or unsatisfactory), and the course and grade are entered on the student's permanent record, but no credit is given toward a degree for the course.
