Scholarships and Part-Time Lecturer Appointments
All graduate students are eligible to receive some financial aid. The level of
support is dependent upon the specific graduate program and degree status.
There are three forms of financial assistance available to graduate students:
merit-based, non-need based, and need-based aid.
MERIT-TALENT
BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
Merit-based
assistance includes scholarships, teaching appointments, and fellowships.
Students are automatically considered for university-based fellowships and
scholarships. The availability of merit-based assistance varies significantly
by field of study. These awards are administered by department
representatives.
PART-TIME LECTURER APPOINTMENTS
Because matriculated M.F.A.
graduate students are already professionals in the field and have teaching
experience, the Department of Dance is committed to integrating all new M.F.A.
graduate students onto our roster of adjunct faculty. All M.F.A. graduate students
will be considered for a variety of adjunct teaching appointments, based on
submitted application materials, including a list of skill sets and teaching
experience.
FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS
Students should consider applying to Stafford and PLUS loans by researching Rutgers University's website https://financialaid.rutgers.edu. Rutgers University Office of Financial Aid is committed to assisting students and families in planning for and meeting expenses associated with attendance at the university.
Students can also get an overview through the SmartStudent Guide to Financial Aid website. Applicants for these loans are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
FELLOWSHIPS
THE RALPH JOHNSON BUNCHE DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE AWARD
Exceptional,
incoming, full-time students with a background of substantial educational or
cultural disadvantage can be considered for this award, which provides a
$15,000 stipend plus tuition remission for as many as two years. All graduate
applicants are automatically considered for this fellowship when applying to
their graduate program of interest. There is no separate application. A
universitywide committee adjudicates and selects Bunche Fellows.
OUTSIDE SOURCES OF AID
All applicants to Mason Gross School of the Arts and current students are always
encouraged to explore outside sources of aid to help pay for their education.
