Every graduate student is assigned a studio space. Second-year graduate students are given priority.
A studio maintenance deposit fee is to be paid before moving into a studio. Use of studios is contingent upon following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for the safe and environmentally responsible use of art materials. Safety Rules for Graduate Students is distributed at the beginning of the academic year. Failure to comply will result in revocation of studio privileges.
Students are permitted to use only university locks (not personal) when securing their studios. This is a university regulation enforced by the Division of Fire Safety. Studios must be painted and cleaned according to the rules and regulations and graduating master of fine arts students must vacate by commencement day. Students registered for matriculation continued may not keep their studio space beyond this date.
All artwork and possessions used in studios and galleries are not covered by Rutgers University insurance. It is strongly recommended that students obtain their own insurance. Information is available at
http://riskmanagement.rutgers.edu/students.html for purchasing insurance to cover student's personal belongings brought on campus.
