The graduate curriculum in visual arts is a full-time program with no midyear admissions. Admission to the M.F.A. program is based on four criteria:
1. transcripts of previous educational experience;
2. three letters of recommendation;
3. a personal statement of 300-500 words about the applicant's academic and career objectives and his or her creative focus;
4. a portfolio consisting of 10 images of most recent work via Slide Room.
The last item, the portfolio, is extremely important. The Slide Room website is https://www.masongross.slideroom.com. For more information, visit http://www.masongross.rutgers.edu/admissions/auditions-and-portfolio-reviews/visual-arts-portfolio-requirements#online. Flash 10 is required to access Slide Room. Technical support is available at support@slideroom.com. Each image should be captioned with name, image number, title, dimensions, materials, and date. Applicants in time-based work (video, film, or performance) may submit a video no more than 10 minutes in length. Presentations must be under 60 MBs.
Applicants are required to submit all their credentials by the deadline listed on the admissions application or its accompanying literature to the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions. Applications are reviewed by the graduate faculty.
