Global Programs

Given the importance of nurturing an educational perspective that goes beyond local and national boundaries, GSE has entered into exchange agreements throughout the world. These agreements facilitate significant academic contact between GSE faculty and faculty and students from universities abroad. They provide the framework for essential cooperation and joint ventures in research, instructional collaboration, cultural exchange, and codevelopment and implementation of binational research and development projects.

Study Programs

GSE faculty members are committed to providing opportunities for students and New Jersey educators to experience outside of the classroom. Accordingly, faculty members have launched a number of international initiatives which have been coordinated by the Office of Continuing Education and Global Programs.

South Africa Initiative

The GSE's South Africa Initiative (SAI) is an interdisciplinary program composed of a variety of activities centered around an annual study tour to South Africa. Participant academic projects have focused on a variety of topics including the development of multicultural competencies, narratives of hope, aesthetics and culture, the public nature of South African institutions of higher education, special education policy and practice in South African schools, as well as several projects involving the development of curriculum materials for teaching about South Africa in U.S. schools. Learn more about SAI at http://www.gse.rutgers.edu/southafrica.
