Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy 2018-2020 About the School Location

Location

In addition to being an integral part of the university, the Bloustein School is a vital part of the New Brunswick community. Designated as one of the state's most significant areas for education and health care, the city is home to Rutgers University-New Brunswick (including its historic Old Queens Campus) and to Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Saint Peter's University Hospital, and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The Bloustein School's award-winning building, shared with Rutgers' Mason Gross School of the Arts, is situated at Civic Square in New Brunswick, where it occupies an essential place in central New Jersey's educational and cultural hub. The locale includes a thriving cultural area--the State Theatre and the New Brunswick Cultural Center (completion date summer 2019), new home to the George Street Playhouse, Crossroads Theatre, and the American Repertory Ballet--are steps away, and a wide variety of restaurants provide menus for every taste.

The Bloustein School's home, Civic Square, is within a five-minute walk of the city's train station. The New Brunswick train station, which has NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak connections, is approximately one hour from New York City and Philadelphia. To reach the Bloustein School from the train station, cross Albany Street (Route 27) and turn left. Walk a block and a half to George Street. Turn right onto George Street and walk four blocks to Livingston Avenue. Turn right onto Livingston Avenue; the Bloustein School is at the corner of Livingston Avenue and New Street.
