It is the general policy of the university not to cancel regularly scheduled classes because of inclement weather. In most cases, therefore, when emergencies occur that disrupt local transportation facilities or create personal problems, students and faculty members should make decisions as to attendance that appear appropriate to them in their particular circumstances.
During severe weather conditions, announcements are made over Camden and Philadelphia radio stations. The decision to cancel classes is made by the Rutgers University-Camden chancellor. If no announcements are made before 5:30 p.m. for evening classes, it can be assumed that classes are in session.
To find out if the campus is closed, listen to KYW-AM (1060). Rutgers-Camden's school closing numbers are 605 (day) and 2605 (evening). The Rutgers-Camden operator's line also will reflect any emergency information; that number is 856-225-1766.
Notification of campus closure will be posted on the Rutgers-Camden operating status website.
To find out if your class is canceled, contact that department's main number. Arrangements for makeup work are announced by individual instructors.
