History and Aims of the College

The original mission of University College–Camden (School 64) since the college was founded in 1934 was to provide programs of study leading to undergraduate degrees that primarily were geared to the needs of adult, part-time students. The mission now has been extended to include full- and part-time students with an associate in arts (AA) or associate in science (AS) degree, who are now enrolled in degree completion programs at Rutgers University–Camden off-campus sites.

The curricula of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences–Camden are built on a solid foundation in liberal arts and sciences. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences–Camden offers seven major programs leading to the bachelor of arts degree. They are liberal studies, political science, and psychology, as well as the individualized major.
