Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Curriculum


The postbaccalaureate doctor of nursing practice (DNP) adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) program prepares students to provide direct patient care to adults with complex, acute illnesses in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Graduates will be eligible for certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Association (ANCC) as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Jersey. The program is designed for either part-time or full-time study. You must have a minimum of two years of acute care experience.

Curriculum: The postbaccalaureate DNP adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program is 75 credits with 720 precepted practicum hours.

In addition to the successful completion of the above course requirements, all DNP students must meet all the DNP project requirements set forth by the program.

*A student who does not complete their DNP project during the project-related courses will be registered for a 1-credit project continuation course in subsequent semesters until the project is complete.

The minimum number of combined clinical practicum and DNP project experience hours is 1000. Students, however, may be required to complete more than 1000 hours to meet minimum competency requirements for graduation and certification (when applicable).
