45:705:570 Management of Health Data (3) Students create and manage quantitative data to assess health needs, evaluate health outcome data, and test hypotheses and research questions using descriptive and inferential statistics. Includes assumptions underlying various methods, interpretation, and statistical methods using spreadsheets and a statistical software package. Basic concepts for creating and editing computer files and computer methods taught, with emphasis on application. Prerequisites: Descriptive and inferential statistics, research methods (master's level).
45:705:679 Contemporary Issues in Nursing (2) Selected issues and research in nursing education, nursing administration, and nursing practice. Extensive examination of nursing research leading to policy formulation and strategies for policy implementation. Research conducted under supervision of a faculty member.  Prerequisites: 45:705:675, 677, 678. Pre- or corequisite: 45:705:676.
45:705:690 Program Development and Evaluation (3) The principles of strategic planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation methods serve as a foundation for creating responsive educational, clinical, and administrative programs.  Basic budgeting and grant writing skills are incorporated.
45:705:691 Leadership for Advanced Nursing Practice (3) This course is designed to critically examine organizational and leadership concepts and theories in relation to advanced nursing practice in current and emerging health care delivery systems. Management processes and resources relative to nursing practice in a variety of health care settings such as strategic planning, fiscal management, and performance appraisal will be discussed. Principles of organizational structure and function will provide the foundation for developing and analyzing organizational philosophy, culture, and communications strategies. Mechanisms for asserting power, influence, and conflict resolution techniques appropriately will be discussed.
45:705:692  Foundations of Evidence-Based Practice (3) This course focuses on the utilization of evidence to guide practice. The leadership role of the APN in the translation of research into practice, the evaluation of practice, and the improvement in patient outcomes based on evidence will be emphasized. The role of the APN in generating evidence through their practice will also be discussed. During this course the student will assess practice changes, critically analyze evidence, and apply research evidence to issues of current nursing practice.
45:705:693 Nursing Informatics (3) This course focuses on the use of information systems/technology as a mechanism to support knowledge-based and evidence-based practice in the delivery and evaluation of health promotion and direct patient care, as well as the use of technology to support administrative decision making, implement quality improvement initiatives, and to capture and manage individual and aggregate-level data.
45:705:694 Capstone Project (3) The capstone project is an in-depth and integrative practice experience, which results in a practice-related written product that is subjected to peer and/or professional scrutiny.  During Capstone Project, a proposal for the planning and implementation of the D.N.P. project will be developed.
Prerequisites: 45:705:690, 691, 692, 693.
45:705:696 Clinical Residency I (6) The clinical residency courses represent synthesis practica with a clinical coach in either the student's advanced practice specialization or practice/administration or both. The student will also continue to work with his or her clinical mentor. Clinical Residency I will involve the planning for the project/program developed in Capstone Project.
Pre- or corequisite: 45:705:694.
45:705:697 Clinical Residency II (6) The clinical residency courses represent synthesis practica with a clinical coach in either the student's advanced practice specialization or practice/administration or both. The student will continue to work with his or her clinical mentor. Clinical Residency II will involve the implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of the project/program developed in Capstone Project.
Prerequisites: 45:705:694, 696.
45:705:698 Principles and Methods of Epidemiology (3) Provides an introduction to the approach, concepts, and perspectives of epidemiology and their application in advanced nursing practice. Special attention is given to the epidemiologic approach to diagnosis and intervention, identification of the cause of disease, application of epidemiology to evaluation and policy, and identification of ethical issues in epidemiology.
