See Dance in the Programs of Study and Courses for Liberal Arts Students section for bachelor of arts (B.A.) program information.
The objective of the bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) program in dance is to provide professional-level training with an emphasis on in-depth study of ballet, modern, and contemporary dance forms to students seeking careers in dance. The program supports student artists' creative and scholarly research on multiple levels, encouraging them to develop critical thinking skills as a base to career pathways in the arts, business, education, sciences, and technology. Students will attain a clear and fundamental knowledge of how their embodied experiences, including improvising, performing, choreographing, writing, and teaching are investigated, integrated, and ultimately synthesized through artistic and scholarly methodologies.
