Scholarships

Students are selected for these awards by the Mason Gross School of the Arts Scholarship Committee. Inquiries should be addressed to the Office of the Dean.

Joseph Kwapinska Anshutz Endowed Music Scholarship. Full-time undergraduate students majoring in music; based on academic merit and financial need.

William G. Becker Endowed Scholarship. Scholarships are to be awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students studying strings at Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Barbara and James Betts Scholarship Fund. Based on financial need and artistic excellence as determined by the program administrator.

Lyda J. Craig Endowed Fund. Student studying visual arts at Mason Gross, with a preference given to a student with a concentration in painting, sculpture, or ceramics.

Malcolm Dodds Music Scholarship Fund. Awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students. Preference to an African-American student enrolled in music. Based on academic merit.

Charlotte Durham Frazier. Undergraduate or graduate students studying organ (preferably), otherwise any keyboard instrument or choral conducting.

Leila Durham Gladwell Memorial Scholarship. Undergraduate or graduate students studying organ (preferably), otherwise any keyboard instrument or choral conducting

Gregory Dance Power Endowed Scholarship. Goes to Dance Now students first. If not awarded, interest gets assigned to dance department for scholarship.

Walter and Rosemary Hoehler Endowed Scholarship. Scholarships are to be awarded to full-time undergraduate students studying at the Mason Gross School of the Arts based on academic merit as determined by the program administrator and financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Qualified students must submit the appropriate university-approved financial aid form by March 1 of each year to be eligible for an award.

Hanya Holm Scholarship Fund. Recognizes outstanding work by a B.F.A. junior or senior in dance. This award will be given to help defray tuition expenses.

Sylvia S. Kapp Memorial Scholarship. Music majors from Middlesex County, with preference to residents of East Brunswick; based on academic excellence.

John Kazanjian Fellowship Fund. Will fund fellowships for students of Mason Gross School of the Arts. Fellowship recipients shall be chosen by the dean of Mason Gross in consultation with the chair of the Department of Music and according to the following criteria: students must be matriculated in degree programs in music administrated through MGSA; have a 3.0 or higher GPA in their previous work to be considered; and maintain this average to be eligible to receive the fellowship for consecutive years. Students receiving the John Kazanjian Fellowship may be engaged in either research or performance.

Philip and Janice Levin Mason Gross Scholarship. Students majoring in drama and the theater arts program associated with the the Levin Theater.

Stephanie Morris Marryott Fund. The recipients will be based upon faculty evaluation or relevant application materials such as an audition in the case of performance, jazz, or music education students; based on financial need.

Edna S. Mason Scholarship. Talented and worthy student who is pursuing a professional degree in music, with preference given to those pursuing a career in piano.

Monmouth Arts Foundation Endowed Scholarship. Awarded to students from Monmouth County, New Jersey, on a rotating basis in classical piano, visual or performing arts, or jazz or jazz composition.

Robert E. Mortensen Endowed Fellowship Fund. Financial aid to a graduate student in choral conducting or undergraduate students in the MGSA registered in both the Glee Club or Kirkpatrick Choir (or other mixed ensemble).

Presser Foundation. Outstanding music major at the end of junior year.

Don Redlich Endowed Dance Fund. Scholarships or fellowship to undergraduate/graduate students studying dance at Mason Gross; based on academic and artistic merit.

Pee Wee Russell Scholarship. Awarded to students with financial need and demonstrated musical proficiency in jazz.

Catherine Mortola Saldarini Memorial Scholarship. Provides tuition assistance to a student studying classical piano.

Share Music Scholarship. Provides financial assistance to student pursuing a degree in music at Mason Gross.

Fran and Ray Stark Foundation. Funds to be used for undergraduate/graduate students studying video/film.

Paul Trilling Scholarship. Minority music majors at Mason Gross School. Preference will be give to student majoring in violin, viola, or cello; other instruments may be considered.

Turner Endowed Scholarship Fund in Dance. Based on talent and potential in the field as determined by the program and financial need.

University Dance Works Scholarship. Annual contributions. Awarded to incoming first-year student who demonstrates outstanding talent as a dancer to help defray tuition expenses.
