Sample Five-Year Clinical Psy.D. Program

Although the clinical program can be completed in four years, students are urged to consider the merits of a five-year schedule, which allows more time to absorb a complex body of information and form one`s identity as a pro- fessional psychologist. Variations on the model below are possible.

First Year

Fifth Year

The five-year program permits part-time employment in the third year and beyond. The four-year program requires a more concentrated course load and normally does not permit student employment other than the practicum.

A total of 1,080 clock hours of preinternship, supervised practicum experience is required. After completion of the supervised practicum, the student is eligible to begin the required full-year internship of 1,750 hours.

Total requirements for the clinical psychology program are 81 credits in course work, including 9 credits for the dissertation and 6 credits for internship; and 1,080 clock hours of preinternship practicum placement (32 E credits).
