The Center for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) provides leadership for the promotion of teaching and learning excellence, collaborations in interprofessional education, and advancement of the science of nursing education at Rutgers School of Nursing.
CERI provides leadership for the following associated centers of teaching and learning excellence:
The Center for Clinical Learning (CCL) provides undergraduate and graduate students
with realistic, evidence-based patient care experiences that develop clinical
reasoning, critical decision-making, team-building, and technical skills.
Various modalities include the use of state-of-the art equipment, electronic
health records, video performance review, high-fidelity patient simulators, and
humans trained as patients, known as standardized patients.
Current
health care technology, such as electronic medication dispensing units, electronic
health record and other interactive hardware/software assist learners in
achieving competencies used in their professional practice. The CCL offers
scheduled classes, simulations, and interprofessional experiences for students
at all program levels as well as flexible opportunities for practice and
remediation.
The center has locations on the Newark (Ackerson Hall; Stanley S. Bergen Jr.
Building), New Brunswick (120 Albany
Street Building), and Blackwood (Halpern
Hall) campuses.
The Center for Professional Development
offers cutting-edge continuing education opportunities for registered
and advanced practice nurses, nurse faculty, and other health care
professionals to meet the demands of an increasingly complex, diverse,
and dynamic health care environment.
