D. Raychaudhuri, Director

WINLAB (the Wireless Information Network Laboratory) at Rutgers University was founded in 1989 as a collaborative industry-university research center with focus on wireless communications and networking. The center operates as a part of the Rutgers School of Engineering (SOE) and is formally affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The Department of Computer Science (CS) in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is also an important contributor of faculty and students. The center's research mission is to make fundamental contributions to both the theory and practice of emerging wireless technologies and systems, working in close collaboration with industry and government. Research cooperation with industry is centered around WINLAB's corporate sponsorship program, which, since its inception in 1989, has enjoyed active participation of many major wireless technology and service companies.

WINLAB's educational mission is to train the next generation of wireless technologists via master's and doctoral programs. The center provides significant research opportunities in specialized aspects of communications and networking for Ph.D. students in the electrical and computer engineering and computer science programs at Rutgers. Each year, WINLAB also hosts a number of international research visitors including both graduate students and faculty.
