Time Limits for Degrees

The time limit for completion of the master of fine arts degree at the Mason Gross School of the Arts is five years for theater arts and four years for art and design. The master of music degree must be completed in four years. Candidates for the doctor of musical arts and artist diploma have a maximum of five years from the date of admission to complete that degree.

The entire master's or doctoral program must be completed within the specified period. Under exceptional circumstances, to be initiated by the student with his or her graduate program director or adviser and the dean, this limit may be extended.
